Chef Biography
Chef Emanuel hales from the “Windy City”, and says, “If you know anything about Chicago restaurants, you will know that Chicago has some of the best food in the world”. Growing up surrounded by the best cooks in the neighborhood and some of the best restaurants in the world was easy on the palate. The chef fell in love with cooking as a young boy. Emanuel comes from a long line of excellent cooks. Culinary superiority in the Washington family dates back several generations in the Americas. As a child Chef Emanuel was coaxed into the kitchen by his grandmother, who was the best cook anywhere and everyone knew it.
Learning From The Best
He tells that his grandmother would frequently call for him to get her things from the pantry or “fridge. He soon learned that this was his grandmother’s way of teaching him without telling him that class was in session. He started to pay attention to the ingredients granny would put in his favorite dishes, and before long started to learn recipes and history of one of Americas treasures “Soul Food”. The chef tells of times when his Grandmother would tell him of stories about her Grandfather Emanuel. His Grandmother said that her Grandfather was the best cook for miles. She said that when “Pappa” was in the kitchen the house was always full.
Culinary Lineage
The chef without a doubt has a tremendous culinary lineage that he has taken to another level. Chef Emanuel was classically trained by a French master and apprenticed under some of the most accomplished chefs in America. Chef Emanuel has worked in the top culinary markets in America, including Chicago, New York, and Washington D.C. and has over two decades in the industry. Chef Emanuel has uniquely combined the” Art of soul Food” with his knowledge, training and experience as a professional chef. He says that this combination is tough to beat and very rare in the industry.
The chef is an expert in restaurant operations. He has consulted with many restaurants on menu development, recipe creation, bar operations and other profit centers.
Chef Emanuel is a member of the American Culinary Association, the Culinary Historians of Chicago, and the National Restaurant Association.
